West Virginia Scottish Rite and West Virginia University Rite Care Foundation
The officers of the new West Virginia Scottish Rite and West Virginia University Rite Care Foundation were elected on August 29, 2021 and are as follows; President – H. Jackson Yost Jr. 33°, Vice President – Ted Hatfield 33°, Second Vice President – John Taylor 33°, Secretary – Wade Jones 33°, Assistant Secretary – Larry Chafin 33°, Treasurer – Nate Gladish 32° KCCH, Assistant Treasurer – Paul Davis 33°. Directors include Jon Castleberry 32° KCCH and Joel Ratliff 32° KCCH.
The Scottish Rite Foundation of West Virginia
The Scottish Rite Foundation of West Virginia is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization with the principal office located at 406 Capital Street, Charleston, WV 25323. The purpose of the Scottish Rite Foundation, other than normal operating expenses, shall be for grants to students engaged in the study of communication disorders / science. These students must be enrolled in West Virginia Colleges or Universities, and must have completed two years of study in this field, with a goal of becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist. Minimum academic and financial eligibility for these grants shall be determined by the College or University attended by the student. The Foundation is funded from donations by the general membership of the the Scottish Rite in West Virginia, but all donations are accepted and appreciated from the public, businesses, and corporations. All donations are tax deductible.
The Huntington Scottish Rite Foundation
The program is sponsored by the Huntington Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Inc. The non-profit relies on fundraising activities and donations to provide financial support for the program. Fundraising activities include; Annual Scottish Rite fundraising dinner, Jule Huffman 5K Run/Walk for the Kids, annual Scottish Rite picnic, and motorcycle ride. The Scottish Rite Childhood Speech and Language Program at Marshall was founded in March 2002 as a part of the Marshall University Speech and Hearing Center (MUSHC). In 2012 the program name was changed to the Lackey-Oshel Rite Care Clinic to honor the program founders, Illustrious James H. Lackey 33° and Illustrious H. Pat Oshel 33°. The program provides a unique opportunity for children in the tri-state to develop communication skills needed to succeed in life in a supportive, compassionate atmosphere. West Virginia Scottish Rite Clubs
Scottish Rite Clubs are organizations outside the cities, towns, and areas without a local Scottish Rite Temple. This gives Scottish Rite Masons the opportunity to be recognized and serve the community in which they reside. Each Scottish Rite Club has a charity which it supports through fundraisers and donations collected. The active Scottish Rite Clubs are Pocahontas County, Tug Valley, Tygart Valley, and Wayne County. Scottish Rite JROTC / ROTC Program
The Scottish Rite JROTC Program recognizes high school youth enrolled in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps unit and the ROTC Program recognizes college and university students enrolled in the Reserve Officers Training Corps for their scholastic excellence and Patriotic Americanism efforts. The award consists of a medal, ribbon, and a certificate suitable for framing.
